The Chagrin Valley Hunt is located in northern Ohio and was founded in 1908 by a group of Cleveland area hunting
enthusiasts, headed by Mr. Windsor T. White. Mr. White purchased several hounds in England and started the pack whose bloodlines
continue to this day. For many years hunts were held on farms in the Chagrin River Valley surrounding the picturesque communities
of Gates Mills and Hunting Valley. An old stagecoach inn in Gates Mills was purchased, renovated, and renamed The Chagrin Valley
Hunt Club. Stables and a kennel were established on the property. The Valley provided good sport through the end of World War II.

During the 1950's, postwar development forced the Hunt to seek more rural lands on which to conduct its sport. In the 1960's, CVH
began to move east, hunting on lands near the town of Middlefield, in Geauga County. Middlefield is a charming town at the center of a
thriving Amish community. Much of the land that we hunt belongs to Amish farmers whose generosity is greatly appreciated! The
territory is mostly wooded, rolling hills, with plowed fields of corn and alfalfa. CVH is one of a very few recognized American hunts
that can claim to have hunted continuously since its inception.
